Shelby GT500 ELEANOR in progress
this has been a long project i bought it in 2001 i believe when i first got it, it was like this, and had wheels on it, i took them off and put the car on blocks to start working on it. i have put way to much time and money into it. Im almost 24 and would like to find another fastback sometime this year and make another one after possibly selling the one i have now. Its something i enjoy doing with my free time, and i seem to be slighty good at doing it so why not have fun with it right? hope you guys liked the pics, i know i would if someone posted their Eleanor up, even though i have one myself... this is the car that you can just stare at it for days and it actually becomes more prettier after every stare!! as for the engine and other specs i dont have much because i used most of the money trying to make the Eleanor look alike clone but with the money that i was able to make with part time job, and a few seasons 2 part time jobs, i got myself a 91 5.0 engine, that i later rebuild. Holley Hi rise intake , 600 hollie dual pump carb and few other upgrades to the engine. New flowmaster exhaust that i havent finished to come out to the sides yet, new try Y headers, new radiator, trany was rebuild not so many miles ago. i still have to finish the interior, like put the door panels on and headliner, and rear foldown seat needs to be finished, i still have to buy some hard to find deluxe door panel trim, and some other hard to find interior pieces... in about a month ill be pulling the trany off and replasing the flywheel.... i kinda made a mistake with this.. the firing order on the 91 block is one number backwards... for example, if my 67 block had a firing order of 1,2,3,4 the 91 block was 1,2,4,3, thats not the firing order of the actual engine, but im just giving an easy example... i have no idea why they did this, but maybe it balances out the block better i suppose. SO, what i did is put my 67 block flywheel on the 91 block also put my 67 harmonic balancer on the 91 block... then after a test drive i noticed that the engine was vibrating at about 2,000 rpms... and it would get worse at higher rpms... i asked around a few shops and i told them that i have a 91 block with 67 C4... and thats how i found out the firing order was different, so the fllywheel on there with the harmonic balancer was not balanced for the block i had... so lucky me i had to spend another $150 for the newly balanced harmonic and a new $150 flywheel that was made for that exact set up the 91 block/to C4 set up... i replaced the harmonic balancer already, now have to do the flywheel, waiting for the rain to go away and for the weather to get slightly better and that will be done and hopefully ill be good to go Last edited by GT500916; 03-17-2005 at 04:34 PM. |

Re: ELEANOR in progress
Hard to believe it's the same car you started with. Nice job so far and the body work sure looks great in the pictures. Some one in your family do autobody work? Kind of amazing to see all that green grass in February too.

Outstanding job and yes, the prices on the Shelby's and close is amazing! My buddy has a REAL 68 Shelby GT 500 KR (King of the Road) Signed by Shelby...He is asking $100,000 for his...44k miles and a huge file on the cars history if that helps any... |
