Oil capacity of GTS rear axle

I had to remove the 9 inch differential assembly from the rear axle of my GTS to re-seal the interface to the axle housing because it was leaking oil. Upon reassembly, I realized that there is no oil fill level hole in the housing or carrier. I can fill it at the top of the housing by removing the return line from the oil cooler. I asked a local race axle specialist how much oil to put in, and was told 4 quarts, but I think this is going to fill the axle housing above the level of the axle tubes, and I am wondering if this is too full and a lot of oil is going to come out the breather when we run it on the track. Can anyone tell me how to get the proper oil level in a GTS axle? It has the Tex racing differential with integral oil pump and seals that block off the axle tubes near the center section.

Re: Oil capacity of GTS rear axle

isn't it more like 2.87 -- mine did not take all 3 quarts.
