steering shakey: NEED HELP
I have a 2001 Daewoo Lanos Sport, with steering column shake.
I have replaced all rims and tires with the 14" package. I have also had several front end alignments, with no success. Also had Hub bearing replaced on Passager side with no success. The steering is very loose and shakey! Need Help in ID'ing the problem because mechanic cannot find the issue. |

Re: steering shakey: NEED HELP
Checking the tires and bearings won't do it. If your steering is playing up, then check the steering arms. If your car has power steering, then check the twist sensor. That's the device which senses when you turn the wheel, and tells the power steering hydraulics to kick in. If it isn't working properly, then the power steering could constantly be trying to flick back and forth trying to find the position that your steering wheel is in. Also, if your car is front wheel drive, check the CV joints. My dad got a stone lodged in his once (I have no idea how he managed that on a sealed highway) and it played havoc with his steering until he found it and removed it.
