Need Advice on New Tires XK8!!
Hello, I just joined this board and hope someone can give me some advice. I just purchased a 97 XK8 and I need to replace the tires. I went to one place and they said the only choice I have is to get the standard 245 50 ZR 17 (in their case Michelin Pilot A/S). Does anyone have any advice on another size/tire rating etc? Would a 245 45 17 work? The reason I am asking is that the Pilots run $1,300.00 fully installed and seems a bit steep....any advice would be appreciated.

Re: Any advice on using 245 45 17 size?
I think if you go with a lower aspect ratio you are supposed to go with a larger wheel diameter. So if you want a /45 tire it should be on an 18inch wheel. The best price is probably to stick with the original spec and just shop around for the best deal. BTW, I put the Michelins on my old XK8 and was happy with them.

Our recently purchased 2000 XK8 has BFGoodrich Comp T/A P245/50R17s. The originals were Pirelli P245/50ZR17's. Guess the dealer didn't want to put out the big bucks for those.
The Goodrichs seem to relatively quiet for their size, but I have nothing to judge them against. |

Check "epinions" for tire reviews. I did a quick search and they have 1116 results for tires. That is a bunch of reading but possibly what your looking for. Good luck....... |
