1990 Ford Thunderbird How to replace a ignition switch

I'm replacing the ignition switch on a 1990 Ford Thunderbird I have the plastic steering column cover shroud top and bottom off. I can see the switch but can't get to the screws to get them out. The switch is on the right but really close the the the dash on the side where the screws are very little clearance. Does anyone know this must be done. I have the key in the run position. Just need to get to the screws to get the old one out and put the new one in. Please help if you can thank you. Also it is tilt steering if that helps any.
