98 Dodge Avenger 2.5 auto Will not stay running

Hi i have a 1998 dodge avenger 2.5 that runs fine but at random times just dies. It does not matter if i am at idle or driving cold or warm engine. i have checked for spark and i have it, also know that the fuel pump is working. could the fuel pump be going out? or the CPS? any help would be appreciated. kinda stumped on this car. Thnx... UPDATE: Just realized that i have horrible valve clatter. The timing belt was changed about a month ago, could it be off by a bit and causing this problem? Also i am seeing a common problem with the ASD relay. What is the relay for and what is its location?
