Re: 3.4 l gm serpentine belt
Did he check it and find the evidence of a head gasket problem?

Re: 3.4 l gm serpentine belt
Nov 14thg - started to tear the engine apart AGAIN!. Got the crossover pipe out. Got the bolts out for the front heat shield BUT can't remove the heat shield. The left hand strut boss is in the way. I removed two bolts, the third position is a pin and it won't budge. Are there any other bolts? I removed two from the A/C compressor which go through this bracket to the block and the boss still won't budge! Once I get the darn thing off, that stud is one of the head bolts. there's no flats on it like a nut or bolt. What gives???

Re: 3.4 l gm serpentine belt
Don't remember that issue, but it sounds like just an alignment stud for the shield, try and pry it off?

Re: 3.4 l gm serpentine belt
No, no, it isn't for the shield. It is a very heavy piece (casting) that forms the left motor torsion strut. It is bolted onto the block and it's in the way I can't get the heat shield off with this stoopid thing there! underneath the shield I need to remove nuts that hold the exhaust maniforl to the block. call me reverse the charges 518-8560004

Re: 3.4 l gm serpentine belt
Snip around the shield with tin snips, you can deal with it later.

Re: 3.4 l gm serpentine belt
Max I gave up on the engine. It is just too difficult to gain access to. I removed the air conditioner compressor and one more bolt. I had to feel around and follow the casting with my fingers down around the lower engine part. I removed yet another bolt and it still didn't move. I looked around with a mirror and couldn't see anything. So, in the long run - I would probably have to remove the engine and work on it on an engine stand - not about to do that. I QUIT ON THE ENGINE. A friend of mine has a Daewoo he's gonna sell me.

Re: 3.4 l gm serpentine belt
Better hope you don't need parts to fix anything on that, good luck!
