Problem with rear end
Hey,
I got a 96 gt and the back end seems really loose like i give it mybe 1/4 to 1/3 thottle and it just comes loss what gives is my rear end out of wack or something. I do not believe its the tires i got Nitto 450 i think and they pry got 1000 miles on them but i cant really drive it hard because it keeps kicking out. I am only 16 so yea my skill isnt the greatest, but my dad has the same problem hes 40 and has pretty good experience with fast cars and power lol from all the dumb Sh*t he did. so i just dont know what gives i took it to a shop and they put it on a lift and said nothing was wrong that they could see. Do you guys think the steeda 5-link suspension would help out? Thanks for all the info. Ken |

i should also add that it was not like that before i spun it ! I was a complete dumbass and didnt respect the car. Basicly what happen i am on i think I-71 coming from clevland and it was alittle wet outside so i am coming out of the rest area and gave it some gas not to hard but enough so i would be at like 70 and infront of the truck coming well i took it up to 5500 or so shifted and boom the back end came out i countersteer saved it but it swang left (I know not to brake or give gas u know just counter steer and try to save it but forgot to take the clutch out) saved it left it started coming right and i think my car stalled not sure but some how it swang twice as hard right and i went for a spin across the interstate. scared the living hell out of me. It caused me to respect my car alot more and i never mess around in the wet now and even when i am in the dry i am kinda relunctent to slam it. but neways i just think the mech didnt really look that hard or something bc something has to have bent when i hit the median bc its not the same!!! what mods should i get to keep my back end tighter. But hey the mustang is a tail happy car. I have done alot of research and all i am just kinda stuck with what should i buy i was think steeda 5 link suspesion new strut bars and mrt suspension it was in mustangs & fast fords! ty guys for all the help this is a awsome site i have learned alot here and its great u guys accutly take time and help ppl and talk to them

Sounds like your limited slip, is an open now.
Have you checked to see? If not, go put the car into some grass and spin the tires, you should see power tracks on both sides of the car.

ight if i get the ford Trac-Loc what type of tricks should i get done. also correct me if i am wrong did some research and this is what i came up with open one tire power lsd power to both tires but with a clutch in it so when u take coners one tire is allowed to spin those getting rid or wheel hop and posi/locked both tires lock together and the same rpm and hops when hits coners so basicly lsd is the best of both worlds whats the advantage for locked over lsd if lsd does the same thing on the straights?

Man every car with a LSD I have been in likes to throw the rear end sideways. I would think that if anything it is working fine. I mean with my GN I have to pretty much FORCE the car to go sideways. It won't do it like a LSD car will

I would think you would more inclined to slip the rear with 300hp to one wheel, rather than 150 to two?
I maybe wrong

If that theory was true, why do all track cars run some sort of LSD?
Nice try, you almost had me

You can counter it with spring rates. Airbags and other such stuff. Slicks and other such sticky tires will help to. A peg legged car won't throw the rear end around as easily

So, this theory applies to normal street driving? Going around a corner, the weight transfer will always be on the outside tire yes? So, in a normal open rear ALL the power will transfered to the inner tire, right? Well, don't you think that with more power, less grip your going to get slipage on the inner wheel, now the outer wheel has to support the cars weight and momentum, because the inner tire would be more inclined for slipping.
