finding a 1.7

whats up everyone. i just bought a 1972 porsche 914 with the 1.7 liter engine. i know a little bit about these engines because ive grown up with a 914. though i dont no were to find a brand new engine for my car, or is it just a good idea to rebuild the one in the car. later

Welcome to the 914 fold. You're best approach is a rebuild. Being the 1.7 the cost will be less compared to the 2.0L. I didn't catch what area of the country your in, so I would suggest you visit a couple of the 914-specific bulletin boards:

www.914club.com
www.pelicanparts.com

Both have excellent references and members that can guide you in the rebuild process yourself or helping you find someone in your area to do the work that you can rely on.
