I am having a few issues....

I have a '96 LSS ,non-supercharged. There is a rocking while I accelerate from a stop thru the steering. I just got 1 new tire on the car and they put it on the front. the other wheels have at least 50% tire tread left on them thats why I didn't get another for the front. Is this the reason? It is also pulling to the right. New tire on front driver side.
It may be the same but while at highway speeds during acceleration sometimes a vibration seems to come thru the dash. not constant.
I am also having coolant go somewhere. I am having to add. I know this motor has upper intake issues that can cause the coolant to be going in there. Any signs I can look for? I don't notice any leaking from just looking at it with the hood up.

Re: I am having a few issues....

tire pull... get a matching new tire on that side

using a coolant pressure tester would help find the leak... free tool rental from local autozone, advance auto parts, or whatever

Turns out one of my tires was bad.

I rented that Cooland pressure tester. I pumped it up a few times. All between 15 and 20 PSI. After 20-30 mins it would lose about 3 PSI. So there is a leak but slow.
Can I use a cooland leak sealer to fix this?

Re: I am having a few issues....

you're supposed to keep it pumped up & while it's losing pressure, look around to find the leak

sealers are a band-aid... more bad things than good... can go with this type, like clogging up a passageway and possible overheating problems... worse case, you'll blow the head gasket and warp the cylinder heads

i guess, if you don't use too much of it... but that's up to you to either fix the leak or slap a band-aid until you get another vehicle

good luck

If the upper intake is starting to go bad or the lower gaskets same thing, this will not show externally, so keep that in mind.

Is there anyway to tell if this is happening beside pulling the intake off?

Re: I am having a few issues....

If it fails a pressure test with no external leaks, that may be one indication.

So would you suggest just taking the plenum off and checking? Is there an easier way to check. Yes, I put the pressure tester on and didn't hear any hissing, but is there an easier way to look without taking it off?
If it is in need of a new plenum , do I need to change the lower and upper intake? How difficult is this job and how long would it take a fairly knowledgable guy?
Isn't there a brand that makes a good replacement?

Re: I am having a few issues....

Remove the throttle body and see if the egr and coolant passage in the upper intake have deteriorated where the coolant can crossover, Dorman makes a upper intake replacement kit. The how to can be found doing a site search here.

Re: I am having a few issues....

Could any of these be related to my problem. The check engine light came on last night and I went to Autozone to check them.
Came up as P0113 and P0172.
I have been suspecting a fuel pressure problem in my car due to sparatic surging. I was messing with the air intake yesterday and I wonder if I may have loosened the connection on the IAT.
