Brake warning light - Help please
Hello,
I'm very new to this so bear with me. I had a warning light come on, which was a car on a lift and then the BRAKE warning light came on and stayed on. The brakes don't feel bad, there is a slight sound under heavy breaking but they look fine, to me So took it to the garage and they said my front brake rotors and pads need replacing asap and quoted $250 complete. The rotors themselves look OK but there is a lip around the edge, that is about 1 to 1.5mm i guess. I tried to attached pictures but I make it happen??? So my questions are:- Are the rotors really that bad that they need replacing straight away? I will upload photos Is $250 a good price for both front rotors and pads? I am thinking of buying and fitting these myself as I believe that it is not that big of a job? I have done it before but a long time ago now and I am sure things have changed a bit since then. What will be the best types to get and where from? I know I ask a lot of questions. jamy |

I don't know Mini's but that light on bottom is most likely a service car soon light.
The brake light can be illuminated because of brake fluid being low. The brake fluid would be low for only two reasons, a hole in a brake line, or brake pads are worn.
