Ferrari in metallic red

Hi guys,
with their "latest" cars, Ferrari has also released some new colours, among them metallic reds, which are also available at Zero Paints. Should any of you think about using them, this is what they look like.

The F12 is painted in Zeros Rosso Berlinetta, the F458 in Zeros Rosso Fuoco. RB is a single component paint, while RF – originally a triple layer paint – comes with a plain red base coat and a separate coat for the metallic effect. Both are primed with Tamiya fine grey primer and topped with TS-13 gloss clear, sanded and polished with Tamiyas coarse, fine and finishing compound.
Both kits are Fujimi, with some P/E and added accessories. Enough has been said about both kits already, so I won't add anything here.
Both colours are rather similar in their reddish tone, but due to the additional layers, Rosso Fuoco has a lot more depth, and therefore it's my favourite of the two, although it's a lot of work to apply some 14 thin layers of paint in total without major incidents. (3 primer, 3 base, 2 met, 6 clear)
The last pictures also show a comparison to Zeros Rosso Fiorano and Rosso Corsa (TS-8).
Any questions or comments are welcome!

Enjoy!

Re: Ferrari in metallic red

Beautiful Ferraris! Paint job turned excellent, and yes takes work as you stated, a lot of finely sprayed layers and a lot of polishing but IMO that's the only and correct way to achieve a perfect paint job as you did with these beauties. Great collection you got there man! congrats.

regards
Rick

Re: Ferrari in metallic red

Funny, I special-ordered RF from zero when it first came out and mine was single-stage. I wonder if they forgot to send the base. Yours looks quite red. Mine is red with orange-gold hue. I painted my California with this color. Nice job on these kits!

Rosso Fuoco looks a lot like Rosso Fiorano. I bet its really subtle in real life.

Interesting... Did you get a big 60 ml jar, or a small 30 ml one? Normally the two layer paints come in 2 small jars.

They are similar. Rosso Fiorano is still a bit darker. It's not so easy to catch the true colour in the photos.
