Wink Re: belt change

If you get the haynes repair manual (hard to find in the states) it shows you how to MAKE the tool to hold the hydrolic tensioner in the compressed position??

Lightbulb Re: belt change

If you make the tool to compress the tensioer down BEFORE you start the job. It goes much faster. You also have to take out the inner fender liner on the pass. side.

Re: belt change

Just for future reference, if you lap the belt around all the pulleys except for the tensioner pulley, you should come reasonably close to having it on. Then all you need to do is grab a pry bar with a narrow edge (like one of those really long Snap-On flat-heads) and place it under the hydraulic tensioner, and lodge the tip on the rib of the backing plate of the assembly. Just simply push up on the bar with one hand and the slip the belt on the pulley with the other. Youre done! No time or money spent.
