Exclamation Question About Shift kits

If I installed a shift kit would it disable the fourth gear (aka the overdrive or TCC for you tech heads)?
Ok, I may be thought of as dumb, stupid, retarded, or any other negative adjective referring to my intelligence and/or common sense for asking this question but I honestly don't know the answer to this and I thought the best place to find out would be here amongst all you knowledgeable car enthusiasts. So, don't give me too much grief

Re: Question About Shift kits

you're right i just have to find those guys. Everyone who wants a fast avenger just swaps engines, and i gotta tell you, it ain't easy do'n that with limited funds that I have, and even if i did have that money I'm sure I would need for something else although I would just like to find a way to keep my V6 engine and have a manutrans as well but i don't know the procedure or requirements. All I know is that there's a sensor that's in the auto trans that isn't in the manutrans.

Re: Question About Shift kits

The shift kit for the Auto in the Avenger doesn't disable anything.
It replaces some small parts that are known to fail with updated ones.
It increases the line pressure to shift firmer (shift kit has settings that you can set during install by selecting which parts you use) and increase the power capacity of the trans.

Re: Question About Shift kits

For "one and done" questions, this forum is great. But if you're looking for help and BTDT to walk you though mods and upgrades, you're better off at a website dedicated to Avengers/Sebrings/Eclipses etc. with their own forum. Google it and you'll find a couple. You'll learn a lot just reading the posts even if you never ask a question (and you'll make everyone happy if you search before asking). Personally I belong to aseclub.net and there's some pretty good brainpower there.
