Lit Up Dash.....Help!!! pls-2001 Olds Alero

I own a 2001 Olds Alero. I did not pay close attention to the dash until about three weeks ago and I noticed that some of the lights weren't working in the dash. I had a relative open the dash. We found that some of the lights in the dash had been squeezed off. Probably for two reasons... (1) the dealer did not have to fix it and (2) sell the vehicle quicker. I bought a new dash and replaced the old one. The Anti-lock brakes, service vehcile soon, trac off, and brake lights all came on when the new dash was put in. Took the car to a dealer and had it hooked up to a scanner. The scanner threw codes for both front driver side and passenger side speed sensors and bearings were bad. Had both replaced then took it to the same dealer to have the computer reset so the codes would not show. The computer was reset and the lights came right back on showing the same codes in the scanner. Took the car home got underneath it and traced the wires from the hubs to the ABS motor. All look okay. What I was thinking is that maybe the ABS motor has failed??? Is there anyway to see if this is what the problem is? Or do I just go and replace it and hopefully it will work to turn the lights off? The back hubs are fine they both registered on the computer. Sorry for the long post I just wanted to get in all the details . PLEASE HELP!!!

Re: Lit Up Dash.....Help!!! pls

Did you tell the dealer you replaced the Cluster ?
I think a relearn procedure might need to be done when this is replaced.

And usually when the lights dont work its just a bulb that needs replaced.

BTW thiers no need too double post a question.
You other post in the Alero section is closed.

And Welcome to AF!

The dealer was told and they reset the computer... drove around the lot with the computer hooked to the car and the front wheel bearings were not showing that the car was moving at all. They registered 0. New whell bearings did not help. Wires look good. What else could be the problem?

I would check the input signal (reference) to the wheel sensors since you have no output according to what you are saying and since the hubs have been replaced. The source is the electronic brake and traction control module (EBTCM).

I would also question the dealers abilty here.
I they didnt program it properly,
you will have problems with the PCM recognizing certain signals.

Re: Lit Up Dash.....Help!!! pls

Well the dealer that I took the car to is a great friend and I trust them with everything. He reset the computer by the book and everything. He did everything he could think of to put the lights out and make the bearings register on the scanner, but it wouldn't work. Bought a new ABS module/motor the other night ( my grandad bought it for me) and we'll put it in soon.

Re: Lit Up Dash.....Help!!! pls

Well if the dealer cant figure it out with all of thier equipment then you may have other problems

Also have you tried putting in the old dash cluster?

And as Bob said the ABS is controled by the EBTCM which is under the pass seat.
Has thier been any water laying under the seat ?

Good Luck
