Is 'gear rattle' noice normal for New 2012 Ford Fiesta SE Sedan?
I just purchased new 2012 Ford Fiesta, automatic transmission about 2 weeks ago. And I started to notice the noice, not loud, but noticeable enough to make me paranoid everytime I slowly accelerate or brake.
The sound is from the driver's side, and while I'm driving in D mode, I hear almost soft grinding for few seconds and disappear. So I took it to the dealer service center, and the mechanic said, "it's 'gear rattle' that the car is trying to learn how I drive. Once the car learn your pattern, it will disappear." Q) Is it normal to have 'gear rattle' on new car? Q) Does anyone have second opinion about the noise? I would really really appreciate if anyone could help me. It's my first car so it drives me crazy thinking this problem will occur repeatedly over years. Thank you!! |

The 'gear rattle' that you are referring to happens in my Skoda Laura too. Don't get too obsessed over it; it doesn't point out to any other serious underlying technical problems in your car

Thank you!
It seems like the noise disappeared after a while. |
