Re: Street racing story, kinda like Ini-D...

I've got all the main characters pretty set for the 1st and 2nd parts. I don't want to go back and change too much. I guess I could add in a different Mustang here and there.

There'll be an S4 in part 3. That's the story with the European car theme.

I wanted to use an FD3S RX-7(have an SA22C in parts 1 & 2), but it looks like it'll have to wait until part 4 or 5.

Part 4 is tentatively called 'The Tuner Wars,' where Scott the main character, goes full circle and starts mentoring someone else. The opposing drivers in the story will mostly be sponsored people from rival tuning shops in town.

Part 5 is a spinoff, called 'The Spartans.' It focuses on the Spartans group that appears in the trilogy. The Spartans have a new recruit, and Bryan shows him the ropes.

Okay, time for another update. Things are going painfully slow as usual. I'm up to about 70pgs now.

I've been doing a lot of revisions to the storyline, and I think it's just about right...until the next time I get an idea.

The Porsche Laufende Gruppe Roster(for now):
Klaus: 993 GT2-550hp
Jasmine aka "Jazz": VW Beetle(original)-150hp, 930 Slantnose-450hp
Ed:928 GT-350hp, 911 2.8 RSR Replica-320hp
Kevin:914-300hp
Lance:996 Carerra 4S-340hp
Gunnar:Cayenne Turbo-525hp

Here's a new general outline for part 3. I tried not to give too much away. As far as progress goes, I am just about finished with the Brabus race right now.

Scott is challenged by Paul, the mechanic of the G-Riders, who has a new car: An E46 M3...with a 200shot. Darren wonders how Scott can win, but Kenneth gives him a brief lesson in tuning.

After returning from the race with Paul, Scott finds a visitor at the shop. Alec, an old friend of Shin's, makes driving videos as a hobby. The wealthy Englishman wants Scott to drive with him in his next film. There's a slight problem, however. Alec has a highly modified Aston Martin, and Scott worries that he may not be able to keep up. While they are filming, a silver 911 interrupts, and begins to follow them. The driver introduces himself as Klaus. After a brief conversation, he promises to see them again, and drives away.

Alec invites Scott, Jenny, Kenneth, and Amber to have brunch at his home after filming the video. While cleaning up, Kenneth asks Alec in private about the mysterious 911 driver, and learns that Klaus is the founder of the Porsche Laufende Gruppe, a group of Porsche drivers. There is also a bad pattern of car disappearances whenever they race people. Kenneth decides that he has to do something to protect his chances for a rematch with Scott. Later, Alec asks Scott for a favor. He is going out of town, but already had arrangements to race with a driver named Ajay. Scott agrees, but finds out that Ajay owns a Brabus S V12.

Kenneth, hoping to infiltrate the PLG and find out more about them, meets Jasmine, Kevin, and Gunnar at an autocross. Jazz makes an interesting dare, and Kenneth takes her up on it. The usual crazy driving from Kenneth ensues. Jazz invites Kenneth to go out to eat with the group afterward, and drops a bomb by asking him to join the PLG. Kenneth is suprised that his timetable has been moved up so quickly.

Scott meets Ajay, and has a hard time convincing him that Alec sent him. Finally, they race on a highway where Ajay's Brabus will have an advantage. But Scott has made a serious, untested modification just for this race. Can he get used to the new setup in time to win?

Darren is headed out to pick up his girlfriend in his newly washed Lexus IS300. It looks like rain, however. Darren decides to put Armor-All all over his tires, even in the tread pattern, so that even though the car is wet, at least the tires will look nice. No prizes for guessing what happens.

The PLG has a member who likes to...take cars that don't belong to them. That's where the Cayenne comes in. The person uses it to tow the cars away once they break into them. Later on, this PLG member also makes the mistake of trying to take a car with the owner right there...who happens to be Jenny, on the way from her mechanic's class.

While shopping for an engagement ring, Scott gets a call from Jenny, saying she is in trouble. He calls her father, who is out of town, and calls the police. The police are busy responding to another emergency. Scott volunteers to go look for Jenny.

Kenneth finds out that the person who took Jenny's car has a Cayenne, and knows that he's on the right track. He hangs out with the PLG later on, and watches as Jasmine takes on a Lancia Stratos. It turns out that Jasmine has more talent than she lets on.

While Scott and Jenny are away, Kenneth invites the PLG to see his rematch with Angus, the Scottish driver of an Escort Cosworth. They have some bad blood between them from their first race, when Kenneth still had his 2.5 RS, and Angus is looking to settle the score. For eye candy, Angus also has some friends come along. They all drive older 4wd rally cars, like the Lancia Delta Integrale, Sierra Cosworth, and an Audi Sport Quattro.

Kenneth is out with Jasmine, and he runs across a Ferrari 360M driven by a jerk. Again, the usual crazy/sneaky driving from Kenneth.

Scott returns to find things have changed since he was gone. Some for the better, and in Jenny's opinion, others for worse. He is promptly invited to race by his old college classmate Imad, who drives a supercharged E39 BMW M5.

The PLG eventually challenges the G-Riders, and Darren has a new car: A Biturbo V6 Audi S4. Dante is also ready with a new weapon. But can either stand up to Gunnar's mighty Cayenne Turbo?

Kenneth calls Alec to ask for a favor. He needs more targets for the PLG. Alec comes through with Team Sniper, a group of his close friends driving an original Mini Cooper, a Renault R5 Turbo 2, a Red Rose package TVR Tuscan, and Alec's own Noble M12 GTO 3R. This is a quadruple header race, with the following drivers facing off:
Porsche Laufende Gruppe vs. Team Sniper
Gunnar: Cayenne Turbo-525hp vs. Damion: Mini Cooper(original)-170hp
Kenneth: Impreza STi-480hp vs. Serge: Renault 5 Turbo 2-320hp
Ed: 911 2.8 RSR Replica-350hp vs. Foster: TVR Red Rose Tuscan-390hp
Kevin: 914-300hp vs. Alec: Noble M12 GTO 3R-450hp

Scott finds himself racing against another old acquaintance. This time, it's Gregg from the Thoroughbreds with his Lamborghini Diablo VT.

Finally, Klaus decides he wants to race Scott. The plans are made, and Scott shows up, ready to race. Jenny notices that the Cayenne is there, and is afraid. Scott realizes that the person responsible for taking Jenny's car is not only a member of the PLG, but is also present there. He gets upset, and loses his focus while racing Klaus. After the race, Klaus is disgusted to find out that a member of his group would do such a thing. Jasmine leaves in a hurry, while Kenneth chases after her. They end up racing on their own.

After the threat of the PLG has passed, Kenneth reunites with Scott and the group. Scott is glad to have him back, but Amber has probably missed him the most. Scott finally makes plans for a rematch with Kenneth on several country roads in the form of a daytrip. Darren manages to invite himself to come along.

I'm a good storyteller, but not a good story writer. I've been thinking along similiar lines, but my story takes place in the applichian mountains in western MD, VA, WV, PA and the streets of DC.
Why these locations? Well I don't know if you've heard stories about the roads in west virginia or not, but driving the speed limit on most of them is like a roller coaster. Sections of guardrails are missing if any existed to begin with. 2 way roads that are basically 1 lane, half aren't even paved or if they are they haven't been maintained in 20 or 30 years. Some areas, especially on cliffs, you can see trees sheered off where cars careened over the edge. Even seeing a graded corner is very rare. Around here, these are the roads to race on. 50 MPH straights followed by lots of 5 mph hairpins, some so tight you'd swear you could look out the side window and see the back of your car. A road I love to drive at least once a week features hills and corners arranged in such a way you can not see the road at all, and if you don't know the road, then you missed the hairpin turn and your in the trees. We never called it drifting, or powersliding, it was just the way the roads were driven. As for the streets of DC, well a man did sue the city cause a pothole swallowed his eldorado and totalled it, and the parking police will usually get your vehicle booted within minutes of any parking violation. Oh and lets not forget the one lane tunnels that the only way you know if the road is clear is by beeping your horn and seeing if someone in the tunnel beeps back.
What would the characters be? a whole slew of psychos. A drug dealer with a crx. A mental patient with a stripped out 240SX with a 350 smallblock chevy V8 strapped in(a search on google turned up a picture of this monster and the next, a rich brat in a pro street 260Z (no one ever finds out the monster under his hood). A redneck with a jacked up, supercharged pinto wagon. A chopped, channeled, sectioned and slammed Dodge A100 van with a midengine crossram inducted 440 hemi with intakes in the roof. A pantera with a 427 CJ and NOS. A mentor/mechanic with a 69 Firebird 500 conv. (yes they were produced in limited numbers do a search before you flame this), and various other cars ranging from the 30's to present day. In maryland there are no yearly inspections. People do all sorts of insane modifications to their cars and get away with it. I could spend hours and pages giving real examples and in some cases photos!
And the one thing your story, and initial D was missing...
The FUZZ! Which can get interesting being that many of the twisting mountain roads will take you through 4 states in 30 minutes, at the speed limit.
One part of the story would also feature a race starting at spook hill by Antietam battlefield, where over 26000 soldiers were killed in a single day, some on holy land. This is a notorious local spot where you pull up to the base of a hill and put your car in neutral, then, even if the engine is off, you start to accelerate up the hill. if you stop and get out you'll see dew on the back of your car and greasy handprints. legend has it that soldiers were pushing a cannon up the hill when they were shot in the back, and that it's their ghosts pushing the car. This of course would be unknown to our characters and unnerve them providing for interesting plotlines
Note, it is suspected that this may be due to a large ore deposit and the moisture due to the fact that your car was turned off and is collection moisture from the nearby stream, making handprints already there, suddenly visible.
I would provide a map link to what the roads I'm talking about look like, however most of these roads are not on the online maps. but heres a sample, coming down this road at the speed limit means literally raising your butt off the seat and standing on the brake.
course starts to the south at the dead end of highrock rd (not really a dead end but past that point your on US federal gov property so it may as well be the end of the road.) comes downhill to highrock penmar rd, then to penmar rd, then through the hairpins which are elevated above railroad tracks, a 20 foot drop on either side of the road, and finally on to old penmar rd
http://maps.infospace.com/_1_292CU3T...CITY&ver=28907

hope the link works for ya

Sounds like you've got a great setting for your story. I hope it takes off!

There's some major problems with the movie. First; actors. Second; cost. Third; effects. Maybe you can write up a screenplay and sell it to Hollywood or something. Perhaps the third FAF can use something

Re: Street racing story, kinda like Ini-D...

i like the idea of a spinoff. to me, i get kind of a Rocky feel while reading this, nad that is a very good thing. Even with the odds stacked up against him he can pull out a win. i have one question to ask you, in the "tuner wars" part since people ae gonna be store sponcered will there be more exotic imports (nsx, skyline).

Yeah. Part 4, the "Tuner Wars," will give me a chance to include some vehicles I didn't get to feature before. I already had an NSX in part 2, but it was pretty brief, so I might have another one. I definitely want to have an FD3S RX-7, R32 GT-R, and possibly an S2000. The story mainly involves Scott sponsoring someone else to drive for him.

I'll probably try to include some American and European cars, too. I wanted to have a Golf R32 make an appearance(not race) in part 3, but it didn't really fit with the group of old awd rally specials(Escort & Sierra Cosworths, Lancia Delta Integrale, Audi Sport Quattro) I was going to put it in(R32 was too new). I think I found a way to include a Corrado or something like that, though. I felt bad for having an OG Beetle as the only VW.

Part 5, will be the spinoff. It would be about the Spartans. It'll also be a bit more raw and realistic, with some cheaper/slower/lower-end cars and less experienced(No Nurburgring enduro drivers! ) drivers. Now I won't have an excuse not to use stuff like a Tiburon or an MX-5. The story would focus on a new member who is a bit down on his luck. He doesn't have Scott's driving experience, either. It's just a couple years of road driving for him. The car he starts out with is a Mazda 323 GTX, better than Scott's CRX stock for stock, but modified, the CRX was much faster. The dude's girlfriend is a much better, more experienced driver than him, with a better car too(Jazz from part 3!!! ). I figure it can be a conflict point for him, wanting to prove himself to her too. Bryan, the leader of the Spartans takes a special interest in him and tries to help him out. At one point, I think I'll have him face off with Scott's pupil, which would be very interesting. Who was the better teacher? Bryan, or Scott?

I also just reached 100pgs on part 3. Now that I think about it, this probably isn't even half of the story yet. If I really keep at it, I could be done by the end of the summer.

Re: Street racing story, kinda like Ini-D...

I was up to ~125pgs, but I lost some data along the way, and it wasn't backed up. I was typing this 3rd part as I went along, but fortunately the part I lost had been written down. Just a matter of typing it all again.

All told, I might have been about half finished.hehe

"The story starts with MC's car, an EG-chassis Civic, getting stolen and stripped. He has to find a way to rebuild his car so that he can race with Rey. An old performance shop owner named Shin takes him under his wing, and helps him build up his Civic. Shin used to be a circuit racer in Japan before moving to the U.S. MC meets a customer of Shin's who does autocross, and she agrees to help hone his driving skills. " for that part if you said that MC keeps hearing about Shin and he's llike some washed out racing legend people forgot about, and maybe MC constantly comes to visit him and asks for help. Shin eventually feels that he has a strong will to learn and never give up attitude, so agrees to teach him. that was kinda like what the did in id 1st stage where iketani asks for buntas help.

I ended up not having Scott's(the main character) car get stolen or stripped. It's not even an EG Civic. I decided to go with a CRX HF. I changed Shin to a former race mechnanic for a circuit racing team. Just made more sense if he was going to be the one helping Scott tune his car.
Scott had gotten involved in a hit and run accident. The person tried to leave him, but Scott was keeping up. He got caught by the police before he could get the plate, and a news crew got footage of the chase. Shin learns about Scott after seeing the chase on the news. Scott comes to the shop looking for parts, and that's how they meet.

i dont think this will fit into the story, maybe a sr20engine would be more realistic; maybe you can put some dialogue of how he goes on thru his day, not just racing all the time; how about putting some imported gtr or some true JDM intead of vipers and camaros; (less hondas) and you should be good!
