getting a car through U.S. customs
I want to bring two first gen m3's into the U.S. but I don't know how to get them through customs. I met a guy who had a honda beat convertible, and he imported it WITHOUT going through a registered importer and WITHOUT making modifications sneeking past the high fee's, how can I do this! I know I can get the cars registered once I get them through customs, it is just getting them through that seems to be the problem, can anyone help, anyone?

GETTING THROUGH CUSTOMS
Did anyone ever answer the question on getting a vehicle through customs? I'm under the impression that not a problem if the vehicle is a classis (over 21 years old). Is this true? Thinking of importing one from the middle east.

I have brought 7 cars into Canada from Europe. Cars have to be older than 15 years before you can bring them into Canada. Before they can be registered, they need safety inspections. No modifications had to be done on them.
Ok, I know you want to bring them into the States. It might be worth checking out what needs to be done to cars that are imported form Canada. If it's less complicated, then I would recommend bringing it into Canada first and then shipping it South. Might be worth it. |

If the car was not built to US-specs, it's just as hard to import it from Canada as it is from anywhere else (aside from the shipping). It is VERY difficult to import a car to the States without meeting a number of regulations.
Anyone want more information: www.nhtsa.gov |

Thanks Hudson. I've done some investigating and I guess I need to find an Importer. Got anyone in mind.
