turbo swap
It is my understanding that the VG33 and VG30det use the same motor mounts and trans bolt pattern. Has anyone actually swapped one into a pathfinder? I'd rather not be the first...but any info pointing me in the right direction will help. I've already got a standalone fuel computer, I just need some way to control the auto trans while I'm at it. I've even heard rumors that the VG33 rods were really strong anyway and could handle some boost on their own with tuning. Any ideas?

Re: turbo swap
All that is true, but the turbo just doesn't fit. It goes right where the steering shaft is and you'd need some custom fabbed pipes to get a turbo to work in a Pathfinder. Both the VG30 and the VG33 are very well built and will take some boost. I know a guy with a VG30i that bolted a Eaton M90 onto it and ran it at 15 psi for a while! It still runs great but he went down on boost to about 8-10...

Re: turbo swap
Hey, i just got a 94 Pathfinder, and am curious, how difficult was it for your friend to adapt an Eaton M90 on there? I can find those pretty cheap, i just wasn't sure how i'd hook one up. If it isn't to much trouble, could you post a pic of the set up? Thanx

Re: turbo swap
He was a welder/fabricator and made all his own tubes and plates and adapters. Totally one-off custom job. I don't have pics, sorry.

What about the possibility of using the supercharger setup off the frontiers? Might be a lot of work, for not a lot of power. |
