Should I turbo It???

I have a '95 base 3000gt, i love the car, its in amazing shape, but i just wish I had some more power. Ive been thinking about putting a turbo in it but it looks like it would be a nightmare. I'd need bigger injectors, a new intake plenum, I'd have to dremmel into the front to mount the intercooler because its the base model, and I'd need a new ECU. Is all the time and money for all that worth it in the longrun??? or should i just be happy with what i have???

Be happy with what you have. If you want turbos buy the VR4. For all the time, effort and money put into make a FWD a TT you can sell your current car and buy a nice VR4 thats already TT and AWD.

Re: Should I turbo It???

you need to change the wiring harness too, or you'll keep blowing through ECU's.

Just sell it and get a VR4, it's honestly not worth the time and money to convert yours to TT

Thanx man, I never even thought about the wiring harness, and it would probably be tough for the FWD to handle all the extra torque. Im gunna start looking for a nice VR4 and maybe sell this one.

you'll end up blowing a lot of transmissions if you start playing around with the car.

They're really not set up to handle the additional power. you're definitely better off selling yours and getting a vr4. it'll end up being cheaper in the long run

Yeah, it looks like ill end up spending over 10000 to do all i want to the car, but i can get a VR4 on craigslist for 6-8 thousand, im looking at the first gen VR4s(with the 4-wheel steering) and i can get a pretty nice one, some interior damage) with 120000 miles for $7500, what do you think, should i go for an old one or a newer one???

Re: Should I turbo It???

they all have All wheel steering (AWS). after 94 they lose the Active exhaust. Half way through 95 they lose the Electronic Suspension (ECS). After 96 they lose the Active Aero (when they go to the hoop spoiler)
Also, 120k is alot of mileage...if you have to spend i little more to get a good one i would recommend it. Make sure that 60K/120K is up to date!

How about a blue 94 VR-4 for $7500? It has about 150k, but in real nice shape.... and you get the 6spd You can fly out here, and drive it back.

Just a suggestion
