just random

I'm the worlds worst sketcher...period...however...I'd sure like to see more posts on this board.

Now...I don't believe there is a "wrong" to sketching...how you make notes and develop is how you do.

I invite you to post yours. Come back to the paper...the pencil is nice.

Re: Sketches (Open Thread)

Read the other post of yours, and I agree with you. There are quite a few members out there, of which only a few post their work here. I'm sure they all have their reasons to be absent, but hey, a sketch or a drawing every once in a while shouldn't be so hard! (admittedly, I am not the most eager member out there....)

Anyway, great initiative. I have a sketch here of just some wicked off-road buggy/truck hybrid.

This was an earlier sketch. Pencil-only, based on a sideview. I tried here to put emphasis on the front wheel. I made some more sketches until I got to the following result:

For this one, I took a different approach, I started with pencil. After that, I did an overlay sketch with fineliner, and finished the sketch with these thicker pens from Pentel by adding thicker lines (I believe it's the Sign-series).

Re: Sketches (Open Thread)

These are sketches taken to a farther level of finish, ie, pencil drawings. This is an excerpt storyboard sequence from "Edge of Darkness":

Nice one Bonzelite! The scenario works really well; the combo of fast sketches with realistic value makes it look like you're watching the actual movie (or reading a comic book of it)!

Wow thanks That's about the highest praise you can give to a storyboard artist. Thank you again.

Re: Sketches (Open Thread)

Nice work. I've been a storyboard artist for several years myself so I can appreciate the time and thought that goes into this. Very nice lay-outs and action.

Re: just random

A sketch and a story.
After spending time with his girlfriend, Gretchen from the country, Norman travels back home to the city. He sees the city lights in the distance, but things are about to change.
Suddenly, out from the shadows of a moonlit night comes unsuspected company. Now the chase is on!
Will Norman be dinner or get away only to clean out his pants when he gets home?

Thanks Bonzelite, glad you loved it. I like drawing dinosaurs - drew them a lot when I was a kid.

You're welcome. I didn't expect to see it.
