engine choice

i would pick the american engine because i have relatives that are really big american-muscle people, so i could source parts and advice from them just like they source stuff from me about imports.

Ka24det

I would go with the KA, for the simple fact that if you blow your head, you could go to the nearest junkyard and get the head off a 2000 frontier for $400 bucks... but thats just me... im impatient, and hate waiting for things... especaially when they are comming on a boat from the motherland (japan)...

i figure that theres more than enough cross over tupe engine parts from the US ca and sr that your still safe with that engine choice as well. oh, i voted ca18det.

I'll go with the RB25, just because it's the most logical swap power vs. money wise. Plus, a I6 does sound nice as wut.

I would get a 97ish 240sx /w a RB30DETT
Reasons for
1.Insane potential (i hear the RB30's can reach hp of 1300+!!!!!)
2.The sound
3.power from just the swap and rwd + ecu flash is about 400ish hp
4.1/4 mi KING! after about 200K mods you can crush funny cars off the line.
(but if $ wasent a problem @ all i would prob have a S7 Salen engine in there Twin Turbo)
Note to others Veilside+97-98 240sx->one of the best looking cars ever....
i like the ka and ca and sr but they're power range is good @ the start but there peek potential is kinda low compared to the 30 Godzilla.

you don't have the knowledge, experience, or fabrication skills the guys at signal have when making a car like that, neither do I, or anyone else on this board lol. The Signal S15 is a work of art and imho the best S chassis car ever constructed. Even if i had unlimited budget I couldn't make a car like that myself, they say that the car took about a half million dollars in parts and customization to make it what it is.

Re: Engine Choice

I voted ka24det but i would go with a custom rb25de-r, which is nissans coding for supercharged. Central-charger of course. Fully built. massive lsd to put down the power that you would generate just at idle. just my opinion

Wow people actually voted for the LS6... in a Nissan forum. Anywho, voted for the RB26 of course if money was not an issue. If it were, RB25 swap since the power is still great compared to RB26 and costs way less for an install

I voted for the KA. Simply because I only want about 400RWHP. This can be done with a KA24DE-T. I was seriously considering an RB25DET. And I still am considering it. I go back and forth every couple of days. I just keep tossing up the cost vs. reliability thing. I have also heard some horror stories about people getting blown motors ( I believe Flash Options was the major culprit there) Also the fact that not many shipments come in on time. It's kind of like "give me your money, and it will get here when it gets here"
I talked with Cameron from NightZ or something like that. And he even told me he has had customers that have been waiting for engines for a couple months. He told me he moved to Arizona and his counter part in Washington back doored him and did something else with the engines. He also told me he himself went to Japan to find a new dealer for sending engines our way. Supposedly he was getting those engines in and sending them to the customers who already paid for them (months ago) So he sound like he is trying to make it right, but there is still so much cloak and dagger crap going on. It doesn't seem like anybody is really in control of the whole process.
I work to hard for too little money for there to be any confusion about what I am buying and the condition. Which I am sure it is the same for most of us. If I have been misled, or just not talked to the right people please let me know. I would LOVE to have an RB under my hood.

Sorry for the long post...

I'm Bill Gates, I'd have a built KA24DET. Surely it could make just as much power/liter as the RB with probably more midrange and more top end than the SR. Its a nice in between. Note that I said built, not stock internals so the limits of the stock internals are of no concern. Especially since I'm Bill Gates; hypothetically ofcourse!

PS - If you used a smaller turbo with a big trim and AR you could get better mid range than most people say the KA-T gets.

As the name suggests I would get an RB25DET but since money is not a question it would be an RB26DETT. Not to mention I would use the RB's AWD capability, because the skyline AWD system (dont remember how to spell it) it absolutly beautiful. It acts like a RWD in a straight line but hooks up with the front end when cornering.
