99 Avalon rear passenger power window will not go up

99 Avalon rear passenger power window will not go up. Last night the window went down but would not return up. Thinking it is the switch, how can I test the switch? I already have the door panel off and disconnected the switch. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Re: 99 Avalon rear passenger power window will not go up

If you have a two-contact switch, connect a volt/Ohm meter to the two poles of the switch at the motor connector, and there should be no continuity. Depressing and lifting the switch with the key off or the switch disconnected from the wiring harness should both provide continuity between the two contacts. If the switch is connected to the wiring harness, it should provide 12 v (+/-) through the two contacts when the switch is depressed or raised, depending on the polarity of the volt/Ohm meter. If you don't have a two-pole (two connector) switch, then it is not a type I'm familiar with.

Note edits.

Nope, not the switch. I switched the questionable switch from passenger to drivers side. worked fine. Must be the regulator or motor. How can I check?

Apply 12 v to the motor contacts. One polarity raises the window and the other polarity lowers the window. If the motor is not installed, it reverses rotation direction with the differing polarities.
