rev matching in daly driving

Hey,

I was messin around today, and i just discovered that when you rev match on a normal shift (ie granny clutching for your fastfurious), it really feels like theres no shift at all.

Here's my question. In order to rev match, im basically riding the gas on the clutch into every gear. By speeding up the engine (relative to the clutch), am i wearing down my clutch faster? I really like the feel of this, there is no awkward lurch forward when disengaging a gear, and it feels to the other people in the car like automatic.

Basicaly, is it bad for the clutch to rev match on an everyday basis?

Double clutch, (it sounds like you are only doing half of it).
1. go into turn and take out of gear
2. Release clutch
3. rev match(tap gas, don't hold)
4. let off gas and put back in gear

This method is better for your clutch, and no it is not a bad thing for daily driving. Some will say it isn't necessary with modern synchros, I happen to feel it isn't necessary (hell, neither is changing your oil every 3,000miles) but I do it because I baby my car and want it to last the longest. This will prolong the life of your synchros as well as smoothen out those lurches while downshifting. And with practice it becomes 2nd nature and you can do it damn fast.

Don't even bother with double clutching unless your car has side curtains and a fold-down windscreen.

Since F&F all the riceboys want to know about double clutching. It's a worthless waste of time with a modern gearbox.

I think I was basically doing powershifting w/o holding the gas for the whole time between shifts. I'd take it out of gear, rev the gas, and while the RPM's were still up and my foot still pressing the gas, id slip the clutch in. Probly gnot good for the synchros, im gonna cut it out.
