Can an alternator with a different electrical connection still be used?

I have a 1999 Isuzu Rodeo that I’m fixing. The alternator was bad, so I removed it. Then today I removed an alternator from a parts car (another Isuzu Rodeo, but it’s a 1998).

The connectors are shaped differently. The bad alternator has 2 wires on the connector, and the salvaged alternator has 4 wires. Is there a way to splice wires and make the connection work, using the salvaged alternator? I thought i remembered that 2 of the 4 wires are not necessary.

Thanks.

Re: Can an alternator with a different electrical connection still be used?

I spent a good while searching google and youtube. I came across a lot of info, but it didn't pertain to my specific situation.

But I decided to try and fix the bad alternator. I took it apart and fixed a connection, which is what I suspected was wrong with it in the first place. Hopefully tomorrow I'll put it in and find out it works.
