Luke warm heat 1996 Corsica 3.1L

I have a 1996 Corsica that i have rebuilt the engine and has 82,000 miles on it and i also installed all new GM parts, sensors hoses, heater core, radiator. ever since i have done this i have luke warm heat. i put a TECH 2 scan tool on the car and drove it home from work about 45 miles and the engine is running 190-195 degrees, the heater hoses are hot, If i turn the temp knob down just a tab, the air is real cold. the temp gauge only goes to the first line never in the middle, that is one reason i put the scan tool on it to see what the engine is running at. Has anybody have any ideas? Thank you

If both heater core hoses are hot to the touch, then obviously there is flow through the core.....


If i turn the temp knob down just a tab, the air is real cold. the temp gauge only goes to the first line never in the middle, that is one reason i put the scan tool on it to see what the engine is running at. Has anybody have any ideas? Thank you


Well, if the hoses are real hot, I believe the scan tool rather than the gauge....I think you have a temp door problem.......not sure if this is cable or electric motor.....if cable, go from full cold to full hot to see if the cable moves the linkage fully(cable could be off linkage or kinked).....if electric motor, go full cold to full hot and watch to see if the motor moves from stop to stop.....if it doesn't, remove the two 3.5mm screws and remove the motor.......then move the temp door linkage by hand and see if you get full heat......if you get full heat manually, you need a motor....

Well, if the hoses are real hot, I believe the scan tool rather than the gauge....I think you have a temp door problem.......not sure if this is cable or electric motor.....if cable, go from full cold to full hot to see if the cable moves the linkage fully(cable could be off linkage or kinked).....if electric motor, go full cold to full hot and watch to see if the motor moves from stop to stop.....if it doesn't, remove the two 3.5mm screws and remove the motor.......then move the temp door linkage by hand and see if you get full heat......if you get full heat manually, you need a motor....

Thank you, This has an electric actuator that runs the temp doors, I have replaced that also and no change. I didn't think of trying the door manually. I thought maybe a control head being bad. Let me know and thank you again

Basically, remove the actuator......turn system on and move the linkage/rod....if you get heat by manually moving the door, and have replaced the actuator, then it's either the head or the wire harness between the head and actuator....

If the door does not move(binding or the rod/linkage is broken), then you have major problems.........whole dash has to be removed to access the HVAC module.......

I have let the car idle for 45 minutes and the heat will blow you out of the car. both heater hoses are hot, the one hose is a hose that is made with the bend in it and it is hot on both ends but it almost looks kinked but its not, I unplugged the tem actuator and the air got cold, it is 60 degrees also in my garage. when it is cold out the air will be luke warm but at idle it gets warmer. any ideas? Thank you

Wonder if this was ever fixed 2 months ago......it's pretty cold in Michigan.....
