Different kinds of camshafts required for different kinds of lifters?
Are different kinds of camshafts required for different kinds of lifters? For example, camshafts for solid lifters with or without rollers, and camshafts for hydraulic lifters with or without rollers. I have been watching "Engine Power" TV show.

Yes roller cams are different then cams for flat tappet lifters, also hydraulic vs flat tappet.

The men in the TV show talked about lift, duration, and lobe separation. Lobe separation is usually about 110 degrees. They talked about degreeing the camshaft so that the valves don't hit the pistons. They just built an engine that generated 1200 HP!
