Re: 99 saturn sl2 mods

Re: 99 saturn sl2 mods

haha nope no car domain. sorry.

There is a pipe bring cold air from the front of the car to the air box for normal use. This way when water droplets are carried up the pipe at 70 mph they are caught in the box and drained out. The box is sealed air tight so a smaller vacuum is is formed by air being pushed into the box than what is there stock.

For racing, i take out the box and have a straight pipe going to the engine with a filter. The car is only like this for a couple of hours with a top speed of maybe 30mph, however.

Works great !

Re: 99 saturn sl2 mods

I went to autozone and fabricated my CAI, I purchased a small air breather to attach to the valve cover and deleted to hose from the cover going to the intake. I hollowed out the cat, installed a cherry bomb and a fart can. The car responded nicely. Nice deep tone. I went with accell coil packs and spitfire wires. Those are easy mods. And dont cost much. Saturn is famous for that year with having cylinderhead issues where the valves dont seat propperly allowing stupid amount of oil consumption. I went and used Q advanced full synthetic oil and had to check it twice a week. I was going to install a stroker kit from horsepower freaks.com and do a under pully kit, but at 211,xxx miles the rod bearings blew out and punched a softball sized hole into the block. Make sure you replace the head, and do supporting mods. Also the radiator breaks easily if you bottom out the front on speed bumps or hit parking blocks. I recommend a aluminum scrape plate. A machine shop can prolly fab one fairly chreap. Loved the car.
