1998 kia sportage
1998 kia sportage. all interior and exterior lights work. will not start. checked battery, o.k. what next?

First check all the cables. If the battery is putting out 13v and there isn't a good enough connection to carry the amperage to the starter it won't do it.
The most likely culprit is a bad starter. Gently tap on the starter a few times with a screwdriver handle. If it suddenly starts working, time for a new starter. Test the wire that goes from the switch to the starter solenoid. If the switch is failing it won't tell the starter to engage.
