Detroit Diesel 2 Strokes
I was driving around the other day and saw one of these in action. Great sound. Anyone else love the sound they make?

Re: Detroit Diesel 2 Strokes
I thought they were all buried by now and only hear about 1 per year. Sometimes it is off-road. I can't say I love the sound, but it sure is peculiar.

i prefer the sound of a massively-tuned Powerstroke.
i didn't think the 2-strokes sounded particularly good.

Re: Detroit Diesel 2 Strokes
I like their sound, especially if modified. We just had a silver 92 in the shop this week for a minor problem. First one we've had in, in quite sometime. Back in the early 80s there was a touring racing series for OTR tractors that ran on ovals. I saw them at Toledo speedway one time and they were bad-assed. Toledo is a fast, high banked 1/2 mile and they flew around there. They were not that much slower than the super late-models that ran there regularly. Most if not all were using V type Detroits and they sounded awesome.
