Progress Pics
you guys are getting impatientjk here are some pics of how it looks right now... i know it needs some sanding. but bear with me. it will get some primer soon hopefully. i need to get my hands on some of that Mr. Surfacer stuff. anyone know where i can get some quick?
as for the wheels, you all will have to settle for some 18 inch 5 spokes cuz i dont have scratch building materials. and the fujimi wheels were the closest thing available from HLJ Last edited by COZMO6476; 01-10-2003 at 06:29 PM. |

Damn man, you're GO(O)D! Was a bit sceptical at first, but soon it will look like the real deal... Keep up the good work!!!
If you want to nail the original, you might want to extend the hood (bonnet) a little, and make the front spoiler a little shorter on top. The front of the bonnet should come down about halfways of the headlights... Understand what i mean?? Just something i saw looking at the pictures of the real car. Btw, are you gonna use the GT wing from HLJ or what? That's the closest thing i have seen atleast. |

What kind of putty did you use to make the body kits?? Is that Epoxy putty or something? And is it easy to work with and cures fast? Does it kill plastic?
It's coming out REALLY nice! I see you fixed up the mouth and made it smaller, good move! I hope to see the finished product....soon!

hey all,
thanks for your support. the putty is a combination of things. mainly because i ran out of stuff but also because im new at this and am learning as i go. this is the first time i ever used putty. anyways, i started out with epoxy putty from tamiya (the faster curing kind...green box) when that was used up. i decided to use the regular putty from tamiya. I should have just bought some more epoxy putty. too late for that now, so i will have to finish with the regular putty since i dont think its a good idea to put epoxy putty on top of the regular putty. but in general, i basically put the putty on thick and carved away the excess (many times i got carried away and carved too much. had to put more putty to fix my overanxiousness... you live and learn). if you guys want to try stuff out, i suggest using the epoxy putty. dont bother with the regular putty for this. it will take years and it wasnt designed for scratchbuilding. the regular putty is more like a contouring putty. oh yeah... i also cut out big chunks of the original bumper to make things easier. BTW, i do have a set of the GT wings from HLJ... that is probably the easiest part of this kit conversion. |
