Re: WIP: 2CV “Rock and Roll-Bar”

The basic BBQ construction was finished and the initial paint put on - undercoated in a redish, rust protection color, dabbed with Maskol for flaking paint effect and then sprayed with Zero Jet Black.

The griddle itself is sprayed with Alclad Polished Aluminium over Mr. Hobby Gloss Black (very quick drying paint BTW – especially in a dehydrator )

Whilst suffering a dose of total lunacy, I decided to try and recreate red hot glowing charcoal – doh!
I raided my trusty driveway for some tiiiiiiiiny gravel chips which were CA-ed into a block that would fit in the BBQ.

This is the beginning of the weathering for the BBQ.

The griddle has been heat stained with the Tamiya weathering kit and will later get a dose of baked on fat, grime and smoke.

The stones were primed, sprayed all over with a red/orange mix and then sealed with gloss clear.
Once this had dried, I applied Maskol dabs into some cracks and crevices and sprayed it all with charcoal black then the Maskol was removed to reveal the glow.

This was followed with a wash in artist oils to darken it down and dry brushed with white to simulate the ash look that charcoal gets on the edges.
I think that this stage has really added a lot to the effect and I am very happy with how it came out.

This is how it will look in situ and with the weathered griddle (is there such a word??) in place (crooked hehe). The "burnt on fat" effect was done with thick blobs of artist oil and 36 hours in the dehydrator.

Foods up! In progress, raw epoxy putty kielbasa and burgers. They still need to be painted up. I have left some room on the griddle for Sam's oysters

I still have to do the final weathering washed and I have one more (hopefully) surprise up my sleeve for the BBQ and then I won't be able to put of any longer the dreaded final assembly and painting of the rollbar (I am soooooooo dreading that stage )

So wadda ya think guys? Is there a future for me in mini-culinary appliances?

Re: WIP: 2CV “Rock and Roll-Bar”

Wow!

So now it's time to change the name of this one maybe!?
Rock and Roll-bar-b-q

That looks amazing, I can almost hear the sizzling from the grill.
I'll have a kielbasa if you don't mind, I'm a sucker for all kinds of sausages. Yummy!

Re: WIP: 2CV “Rock and Roll-Bar”

.

I have been contacted by Tamiya who want to mass produce my car. It will be a motorized version and called the 2CV Rock and Roll "Go-Go" Bar

...They are even thinking of including a Pole dancer in the kit
