Putting sub system together...questions!

I have done a lot of reading and research and I have decided to go with a RE XXX, but the only debate at this point in whether I should get a 15" or a 12". I have a 2-door '99 Accord(for trunk space requirements) and i want to get (1) 15" XXX and put it into a ported box but i have read i needed 4 cu. ft. and i dont know if i want to sacrifice that much trunk space. So the debate continues between the 12" and the 15". The next thing is the amp...I have head a lot of good things about the nine.1 but i cant find anywhere to buy it online, it is back ordered at the eD website. Also considering the ZRS-8 or something by US Amps. Looking to spend betweek $300-$450 on the amp and i am aware of the pricing on the XXX's. Any advice/insight/experience would be helpful. Thanks.

Hifonics BX1800 or BX2200 are good choices. after reading some peoples experences i will never buy from eD and eD is the only place to get the NINe.1

it is up to you wether you can give up the trunk space, not us.

I agree with CB, check out the hifonics. Also check out proflile amps as well, theyre said to be extremely good for the price. You can find these on ebay, or basicaly any other online car audio retailer you can find.

Re: Putting sub system together...questions!

Thanks for the input guys...i think the bx2005d just jumped to the top of my list. As far as wiring goes...is it easiest to just buy a wiring kit (if so, what is a good brand and gauge) and just buy some 2 or 0 ga. wire from hardware store to replace the big 3, or to buy the wire on a spool and do it all myself? thanks again.

Re: Putting sub system together...questions!

Some one knowladgable here has stated that "wire is wire". The higher the strand count, the easier it is to bend around corners. If you can find 2 gauge for cheap somewhere, go for it. I got a complete kit with 4 gauge wire for 35 bucks shipped on ebay, and I was pretty happy with it. How many watts are you planning to go up to? If you go above something like 1200 watts, you should seriously consider upgrading your electrical system (alternator, big three wiring, battery(s)) before you start worrying about heavy gauge wire to go to the amp.

Re: Putting sub system together...questions!

ive heard great stuff about hifonics amps, i usually get wiring kits for my installs, until recently i started buying in bulk cuz im doing it more and more and if you do it alot bulk is cheaper, but if its jsut one install then get a kit.

Weldingsupply.com

1/0 is like 1.25 a foot. for a 25 ft spool it is like 7 bucks shipping. done deal. a 25 foot spool should be enough for most small cars and trucks to do the Big 3 and a single power wire + a single ground wire.
