what did you use to to burn it, how did you hold it over flame, wait in one question, how the heck did you do it?

Re: Progress - 1:12 Skyline R32 GTR
Steve, your work never cease to amaze me.
This sentence has been written thousands of times in your threads, but for God's sake it's the truth You've reached such a high level in all your projects. Imo, you're a master in painting, modifying and customising. Even in taking photos (your photos have been very inspiring for mine ) and now you create your own parts ... it's too cool If I had to confer the award for 'Modeler of the year' on someone, it would be you. |

http://www.dansdata.com/vulkan.htm and held it with a pair of pliers, it only takes 30 seconds to do and you can see it changing colour as it gets hotter. Leave to cool in air not water. As it only affects the surface of the steel if you don't like the result, you can polish it off and start again. Thanks |

Re: Progress - 1:12 Skyline R32 GTR
so you burned the flame directly in to a hole or you did it from side (I belive it is through the hole because the burned ring is so even). Did you maybe tried this with white metal? or it would be to hot for it (sorry for bothering so much but your work allways give me new ideas).

Only certain metals will colour up. For example Aluminium will not, so I very much doubt white metal will. The stainless gets so hot it glows RED, white metal would just melt. Thanks |

99% finished one of the large tubro that's going on this beast. Took me ages but I'll 95% happy now, just another to make. If I can i'll add the internal turbine. FYI : This was also, like other parts machined from Aluminium bar on the Lathe. It's made up of 5 parts Thanks for viewing, all coments welcome, good or bad Edit: The bar out the back is only to hold it for now, but will be cut off later and the flange added. |
