transmission question

can you have a transmission raterd for more horsepower than your engine and not have problems. i mean like can you get a transmission from a 350z and put it on a modded car with 245hp?

Re: transmission question

generally its not a good idea to put an engine with more power than the tranny can handle into a car, but as far as i know, it will do no harm to the trans to be overbuilt for the engine.

the way i see it, you almost never drive around at your engines peak power, so it shouldnt hurt.

Re: transmission question

No problem. Often times its not done for money reasons, that is to say, no need to pay the big bucks for an overkill tranny so people typically only buy what they need.

I'm a big fan of overkill Do it.
