OEM vs After Market

I've replaced the glass in my truck 3 times, The last time was OEM glass, the defrost on a cold day put a crack right up the middle. PPG is a good supplier of Glass, they will refer you to a glass dealer in your area.

I had a bad experience on the last time my windshield was replaced. It went back & forth due to bad workmanship. I am planning to replace my own windshield for my own 98 Tacoma. I am a very handy person but I never replaced a windshield before. If I got all the necessary tools do you think a weekend warrior can do it. what worried me is the "gluing" procedures. I am lousy on something that involved caulking or painting. Your advice will be really appreciated.
Thanks, uleesis

Re: Source for new Toyota Glass for my 04 Tacoma?

I have done one or two in old cars. It's not a fun job. It's also very difficult to keep it from leaking. The last time I needed a windshield I let a pro do it. He will probably do it for about the same price you will pay for the windshield. But don't give the business to the same shop you had a bad experience with. My 2 cents, Clifton
