car starts wont stay runnin
97 lsi auto,it will start up but when it warms up and u shift into gear it bogs down then dies. start it up then dies. what the hell could this be. it was throwing up a code for 3rd cylinder misfire but i replaced wires and plugs and this dying thing keeps happening. plz help. ahhhhh

you know i have been playing with the dist. cap could that have done anything like knock the timing off. cat. conv. maybe the exhaust is loud and all this black soot comes out the tail pipe. what is tps. thanks

I would start by checking spark on all cylinders first. Then check compression and post the readings here.

The TPS is the Throttle Position Sensor. It's probably not the problem and it will normally throw a code if it is. You will probably find a simple solution to this problem in the end. Check you timing and heed Johnny Mullet's advice above. Good luck and it could be the dist cap if it's been tampered with.
