Is this a deal?

I just ran up on a 92 metro 4 door auto trans that has 89,000 original miles. Its in good shape and runs fine. He wants $1000.00 for it.

What experiences have you folks had with the automatic transmission? I am cautious about the trans as I have had no experience with them in the Metro. Mine is a 5 speed and still going strong at 226,000 miles.

Thanks

5 speed transmission is better because of fuel economy but I have heard nothing bad about automatics except a little sluggish accelerating. If the car body is in good shape and it runs well, I would jump on it. Check E-Bay for Metros and you will be amazed how much they go for. Some are not even in that good of shape.

There was a 1995 GEO Metro 3 cylinder 5 speed 80,000 miles at a dealer 3 hours away from me that I called on today to see if it was still for sale. it was sold for $2700 and the guy was driving it back to Texas from Wisconsin.

Metros are in high demand and people will travel to get them.
