Quick Question

I just bought some new 6x9's and i was wondering if instead of replacing the stock ones, would it be any good if i had 2 sets of 6x9's like performance wise. Or is this a dumb idea, i would have the new ones in wedge boxes and up against the back window.

the 6X9's are an old style speaker, the rear shelf is not a very good location either. It sounds best when the sound is in front of you.

well, it will be a little bit louder .... but if the 2 pairs are not very similiar (same make model) it may not sound too good. You might get a lot of constructive and destructive interference

Re: Quick Question

i guess it could improve your 60-90 hz bass and add to the sound of what you have now.. but as pauld said its best if you dont have much sound coming from the rear. replace your old 6x9s with the new ones (given they are worth it) or take them back to the store. then focus your money on good component speakers for the front

Re: Quick Question

No i just got stock ones in the back, what i want to do is replace them with the Clarion 6x9's i bought. I think there pretty good model 200 peak, and 40 rms. So basically all its gonna do is give a little more bass and possibly louder ( if there a similar model). The way you 2 made it sounds its not worth it?

Re: Quick Question

no were just saying that the majority of the sound in your car should coem from the front. thats just how it sounds best. for bass you should save and get a sub. for louder and clearer midbass and highs invest in some good front speakers (components if possible) and an amp

Re: Quick Question

since youve bought them go ahead and replace the back ones, but get good comps up front and then get a sub. the stocks would need to be replaced anyways, there gonna blow way before anything aftermarket, well almost anything aftermarket.

I already have subs and that and none of my stock speakers blew on there own, i got rain on a front left 4x6 and it eventually blew but not otherwise,i already bought some 4" speakers for upfront and im gonna see how they sound before i try to sell them off or return. I know they wont sound as good as some good comps.
