Stupid Q, need a Smart Answer

Ok seriously i dunno wtf the difference between cold air intake and just the air intake, and if I was getting and engine swap(1997 GSR Type R)for a 1995 civic would it matter what model I got, DX, LX, EX?

Re: Stupid Q, need a Smart Answer

Ther is no GSR Type R, unless you meant GSR or Type R.

As far as the model, it doesn't really matter, except one may have factory options that you want. The EX has vtec already, so it will be one less wire you have to run.

A cold air intake is one that is routed through your chassis to the wheel well, and it does this to draw in air that is colder than the ambient air in the engine bay. A regular intake draws in air from the engine bay.

Re: Stupid Q, need a Smart Answer

What year/model Civic do you have?
If it's an EX there will be a hole in the chassis to run the cold air intake through. If you have the other models, you're either going to have to cut out that plate or contact AEM for a hybrid intake. They make intakes for engine swaps..

Like my engine, a Type R or Si intake won't fit because I have a metal plate on my DX where it would normally route. AEM makes one for my engine that will route around it to the wheel well.

Really, you didn't have the hole? I thought the stock resonator routed through there? Damn, my VX has the hole

Do you have the horizontally mounted intake manifold?

Yea,

Ok, so the IM's that inlet from the top (vertical postion) don't have the hole in hte chassis? Weird, seems they'd punch it on the line when they made that partof the frame.

Re: Stupid Q, need a Smart Answer

Then the only sohc's with the shitty im's were the DX, CX and LX models. The EX, HX, and VX (hatchback only right?) had the nice horizontal ones, and the hole in the chassis.
