No matter the length, it's dangerous because you're altering the dynamice of the spring itself. It'll make your ride feel like crap, and it'll blow out your shocks in no time flat. Just save you pennies and get some REAL lowering springs, heck even some POS $99 Drop Zones would be better than cut springs. remember, with suspension more than anything, you get what you pay for. Cheap out and pay nothing to cut, get nothing of results in return, rule of thumb.

For $150.00 you could get GOOD springs, H&R from www.tirerack.com they come in a .75" drop. Anything more than 1" of lowering should be combined with performance struts - Koni, KYB, Bilstein, etc.

If you don't want to spend the money to lower your car correctly, DO NOT DO IT! You will regret it. Suspension work is not the cheapest of upgrades, be cheap and you will feel it. Unlike a junky intake, you dont feel that with every bump, dip, crack, etc.

Let me add, not only feel it, but in a "just right" situation, it could cause your car to lose control and kill you. No kidding! Spings aren't meant to be cut, they are made to specific tolerances and specifications. Mess with a spring and they WILL mess with you back, guaranteed.
