Re: Best Sleeper In STOCK Form
I'm gonna go with the Jeep GC SRT-8...0-60 is 4.9 and the quarter mile time is low 13's.

Re: Best Sleeper In STOCK Form
The 2007 Chevy Trailblazer SS has the vette 6.0L 400HP LS2 motor. Stock they have a 13.5 second 1/4 mile @ 100 MPH. The upgrade capabilities under the hood are sick. Making one into a sleeper from hell wouldnt be hard at all, they already are. Straight from the factory GM has a plentiful line of optional accessories for them like multiple dvd players 1 flip down 2 head rest, onstar, sat radio and a bunch more all covered under the factory warrenty. Really they are quite the sh!t IMHO.
As for being a "sleeper", i expect few people would be able to understand how and why a chevy SUV just put the smack down on a so called sports car. They cost $10,000 less than a base model vette. If you added that kind of money worth of mods to a AWD model SS trailblazer a good race for you would be a corvette. You cant get it for under 20K, but in a year you could find one used for that much. |

Re: Best Sleeper In STOCK Form
I think people do not realize STOCK means WITHOUT mods. In that case, another addition to the list should be a Volvo 850 R or T5R. Close to 240 horses from a Volvo that no one would expect to be anything other than a grocery getter.

Re: Best Sleeper In STOCK Form
for the sake of discussion in Sleeper in Stock form.. (in Stock Form) meaning exterior is stock no signs of being moded a fast car that's why it's called a sleeper.. a Supra is not a sleeper? a corvette is not a sleeper? a ferrari even in it's Stock form is definitely not a sleeper! people know just by the looks that they are fast cars...much more a Volvo 850 T5R turbo! But for example
a chevy cavalier with an LS2 motor is a sleeper.. somebody has a 1980 datsun truck with an SR20DET is a sleeper..... for some reason when you drive a fast looking car people get so foamy and wanna race you...that's why these sleeper cars are out so the least you expect and booom... your volvo T5R 240hp is beaten by an old rusty 1968 volkswagen beetle with a 300hp subaru Sti turbo motor in it.. hahaha.. |

Re: Best Sleeper In STOCK Form
yeah obviously some car with a crazy engine will beat most things, but the question was STOCK, as in everything stock. Not very many people would suspect a Volvo to be quick...

Re: Best Sleeper In STOCK Form
I know someone that has a Mustang GT, and they couldn't believe when a Neon dusted them. They asked me what the SRT on it meant. I told them that is the high performance turbo charged Neon. That's why they got dusted by a Neon.

Re: Best Sleeper In STOCK Form
I think that a sleeper is the kind of car that makes you go "WTF!?" when it clearly gets the best of you. So with that definition in mind, I think that wagons and sedans with conservative looks, respectable handling, and lots of horsepower make the best sleepers.
Normal cars with big engines (Toyota Camry V6) don't count in my book. The car needs to have received a bit of love and special attention from the factory. An enthusiast would actually have to enjoy driving it. My top votes go to: 1. Subaru Forester XT 2. Volvo 850R / S60R / V70R 3. Mazdaspeed 6 4. Volkswagen Passat with W8 engine (anybody else remember those?) |

Re: Best Sleeper In STOCK Form
A good sleeper car requires it to LOOK stock and be a classic i have a 67 Fairlane GT that I put about $70,000 into. It has a button and 2 electronic swithes to activate the following (the button activates hydlalics to get the car down low so it doesnt pop a wheelie, the first switch turns a Paxton Supercharger on/off giving it 800 hp and the other switch moves the tail pipes to make it sound like it has 800hp) so when those little preppies in their imported japanese cars here her roar thell **** thereself.
