1990 cressida oil leak
Hi everyone my brothers cressida is leaking oil everywere he goes. The engine is a 7mge. It leaks running and continues to leak 2 to 5 minutes after you shut it off. The leak is dripping every couple seconds. Leaks from a hole in bottom of front (timming belt) cover, i don't even know if the hole should be there, it's about 3mm or almost 1/4 inch in diameter.
And it looks to be leaking from the passenger side of the cover, it is hard to pinpoint were, with all the oil and pulleys. Oil covers the waterpump, a/c compressor, power steering pump, oil pan and belts. It seems oil is leaking onto maybe one of the pulleys and slinging everywere. heres a picture of the hole were it leaks, is this supposed to be here? http://s71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...t=IMAG0290.jpg Does anyone have any idea of the best way to diagnose and possibly repair the leak? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks David |

Re: 1990 cressida oil leak
I would pull the timing cover look behind the cam shaft gears for the timing belt.
I think one of the camshaft seals is leaking. Also look at the front crankshaft seal. I would clean every thing with break clean. I would replace the timing belt. My boy had a supra and a belt change and seals can be done in one days time. If you pull the harmonic balancer to do a seal use a tool like this. http://www.autopart.com/tools/toolsmain/tool/T_2236.htm Auto Zone or Advanced Auto should loan them. |
