Exige or Elise or Esprit
Hey fellow automotive people.
I was driving one day and saw a brand new lotus elise... my jaw droped. So, i started looking at Lotuses. I can decide! Is the Esprit worth the extra $30,000 from an Elise. And what is the differance between an Exige and an Elise. I would greatly apreaciate some stats mabey and some advice. -Joe |

the exige is a race spec car based on the elise. esprit is worth more because it is no longer in production.

The elise is a race car. The esprit is more luxury. The elise is not $30,000. The BASE price is $42,000, equipped and out the door, around $51,000. The fact the esprit is ceasing production doesnt make it worth more. The esprit has been outdated for years. If you're seriously not sure if you want an Elise or an Esprit it sounds like you dont know what you're looking for. The Elise and Esprit are as different as Night and Day. The only difference between an S2 exige and an S2 Elise with Sport Pack is the Exige has a wing and a front splitter. The ELISE is actually FASTER because it weighs less. Put a hardtop on the elise, get sport pack and you've got the same car except for the two points I just mentioned ie Wing and front splitter

Well fast miata... you forgot the 2 main things about the exige, shame on you. Not only in handles better than the Fed Elise, but it also has 100 lbs of downforce (against the 12 mere lbs the elise has) and it's at almost F1 levels of handling when it reaches 100mph and the 100lbs of df come to use. That is why the Exige did faster lap times in the lotus tracks than the Elise. Beating it by 4 seconds or so (which is a big difference when you are a race car driver/enthusiast).
