Previa AC Issue

I have a strange problem going on with the used 92 Pevia I just bought. There was no freon in the AC system, so I put some in. The freon is full, compressor kicks on, but it is not blowing cold air. Also, if I turn the AC off while my foot is on the gas peddle, everything is fine. But if I turn the AC off while sitting idle, the van dies. Any clues on the odd deal?

Re: Previa AC Issue

Sounds to me like the compressor clutch has broken springs. Why its not cooling? The system leaked out and air got in. The refrigerant was replaced by condensibles. In other words you have air in the system. Might very well be the compressor front seal is leaking. JMHPO
Say hi to Mr Jimmy.

Re: Previa AC Issue

But if there is a leak, wouldn't the freon be leaking out? I haven't lost any freon. Who's Jimmy?

Re: Previa AC Issue

Didn't you say there was no freon in the system? Now you say you haven't lost any. Did you diagnose the "no freon" with manifold guages? What are the hi and low pressures? Jimmy Carter of course!

Re: Previa AC Issue

I just bought the vehicle, so I don't know how long it's been without freon. Since it wasn't blowing cold, I checked and there was no freon. Since I filled the freon, none has leaked out. Compressor kicks on, just doesn't blow cold. Jimmy says howdy!
