air bag issues
I have a 2003 GMC sierra 5.3 v8 and I'm having air bag issues the light came on all of a sudden and wont go out. I want to know what it would take to fix this problem, and will it hurt to drive in the mean time until I can get it fixed. Thanks

Re: air bag issues
The system should be scanned for trouble codes to determine what portion of the system or component is faulty. There are impact sensors, inflators, wiring and connections, a reserve energy module, and other vehicle systems integrated to the SIR system. Anything short of getting the codes would be guesswork.
Will it hurt anything? Probably not. Vehicles operated for almost 100 years before air bags were introduced.

Re: air bag issues
I ran a scan on the system using my OB11 scanner and it showed no codes on the computer and no check engine light on. Is there any other type of scan should be done on it in order to figure out what's wrong with it. It shows up on the DIC (Service Air Bag) and it comes and goes May be there today but not tomorrow. Thanks

Re: air bag issues
You need a specific type scanner to get Sirs codes.

Re: air bag issues
With an intermittent warning I would suspect a connection somewhere. A scan should reveal the specific circuit involved. Incidentally, connections include the clock spring (reel) mechanism in the steering column.
