Yes the 406 Coupé is very nice. It has been designed by Pininfarina. But you won't have it in the US, because the 406 is "old" (appeared in 1996, 97 for coupé and SW) and you'll discover its replacer, the 407 in 2005 (sold here in 2003 or 2004).

I'm definitley picturing the 4O7 as a shrunken 6O7

Bu in Italy these cars are extremely common- only FIATs are seen more than Pugs.

However- Peugeot should be able to sell a Top of the line V6 SE 6O7 in the US for about US$40,000- this is the price they are sold for in New Zealand- which I believe is cheaper than in France- however- the rising New Zealand dollar has made the 6O7 price in New Zealand look pretty standard in todays world. In fact the NZ and Australian prices are now about even. Also they get the 4O6 Coupe V6 for about US$35,000- so there is definite potential for cheaper prices- however we must keep in mind that NZ has no import tarrifs as opposed to the US.

I reckon that one thing they could do is make a boring 3O7 sedan for the US market- it'd be a surefire hit- if you see how the Civic has done over there (Where you can get it as a Sedan or Coupe)

A 607 V6 pack (leather, "double windows", etc.) cost about 42 000 € here too, it's the same price as in NZ. The 406 Coupé V6 Pack is 36 000 €. Add about 1 800 € for an automatic.

The replacement 156 gets here next Wednesday I pick it up on Saturday when I come back from Switzerland

I still reckon that the 4O6 Coupe 3.0 should be manual only

I reckon they should have done a 4O6CC to compete with the 3 series convertable

And what do you think about these cars only available with automatic ?
Like the Laguna V6, Vel Satis V6 and V6 dci, all the 7 Series, all the S Class, Cayenne turbo, S8, E55 AMG, etc. etc.
It's a pity to me.

I think every car should at least have a manual option- on the lighter side- the M5 only come witha 6-speed manual

I think the same. Indeed the M5 is safe All the 5 series range : from the 520i to the 540i and the diesels, have manual gears : good think. I hope that they will continue on the future 5 series.

Will the 406(7) come with the option of awd - or more apropriatley do they make a "rally" version of the hatchback like subaru and mitsbishi do?

Peugeot spoke about that, but the idea was no retained. But could change of mind. Wait and see No SUV for Peugeot today; only one for Renault, the scénic RX4, and a "real" one with the Koléos which will compete with the X5 in 2005-2006.

The 4O7 doesn't have a 4paw option- it is exculsivley FWD- as is the whole range- no 4Wd's for the PSA.

I REALLY think they should do a WRC inspired version of the 2O6 though- since they ARE the best Rally cars in the competition

I'd love to show up some Wankers in thier Evo 7's and WRX STi's in a little Pug

I'd rather see the SMART or the Renault Espace diesel come over here. I'd put a full deposit down on either of those.

If you want a 206 WRC, Peugeot will maybe make one !! And you've the Clio V6 255 hp if you want a little and vrey powerfull car.

DMC12 : the Smart will be sold in NY and SF for US$15 000. For the Espace, Renault forsees to come back in the USA arroud 2008... it's long : as always, french makers feel the cold...

206's are my favourite car. If they ship em', I'd buy one. I can only see some problems, no places for mods, no parts, no service. Hopefully then will come to canada as well, not just USgAy.
