What code did you have for the mass air flow sensor?
Common oil leaks are cam seals and valve cover gaskets. |

Re: 1.8t sport passat 2001 mass air flow sensor problem
pull the rubber boot off the top of the air box and check if the maf sensor is plugged in all the way. Sometimes when people change air filters and unplug them they dont plug it in all the way.

CHeck under the battery for the drain and see if its clogged (you need to remove the battery and battery tray).

Re: 1.8t sport passat 2001 mass air flow sensor problem
found the problem with the water getting in to drivers side floor when they must have put parking sensors they put the cables via the bonnet open cable and put them through the same gromet into the car resulting in the leak into the car as cutting the gromet to get the other cbles in and for the oil leak it was the cam seal and the airflow meter was changed as well and you can tell the differnce now but cost plenty but worth it

Re: 1.8t sport passat 2001 mass air flow sensor problem
hi i have a 2003 passat 1.8t auto and the engine light is on. i had a mechanic diagnose it and its been misfiring in the cylinders 1 ,3 and 4. he reset it but the fault code still appears. code 0001 - 16486 p0102 - the fault says it a mass air sporadic - flow circuit 07 - low input. can anyone help? what should i do?
also when i put the car into drive the car makes a sudden jump.(but it doesnt do this when i put it into reverse) i can also feel a jump when it shifts down gears as i slow down, could this be from the same problem? |

Re: 1.8t sport passat 2001 mass air flow sensor problem
If you ever think you have a bad MAF but arent sure, you could simply disconnect it from the ECU. The ECU will revert to a default program and if the car runs better, you have found your problem. (MAF)
