Where is ignition control module, chevy metro
I had my 1998 Chevy Metro's code scanned and was told it could be the ignition control module- by a guy at Advance Auto Parts. I bought one but he didn't know where it was located on my car, so I started looking.I can't find anything that matches the part. Does anyone know where I should look? It's a four cyl. LSI. The part is nearly square and about 1-1/2 by 1-1/2 inches and about 1/4 inch thick with two mounting holes and a receptacle for a plug with 3 wires. Thanks for any help

Re: Where is ignition control module, chevy metro
this is a DIS ignition system, I don't think it has an external ignition module. I think you have a module for a 3 cylinder
Usually when those fail, the car doesn't run

Re: Where is ignition control module, chevy metro
Several companies list one for a 3 cyl. AND a 4 cyl. Part #D566- AC/Delco. but they call it a spark ignitor. The code reader said "multiple random cylinder misfires",and I was told that perhaps I should start with this part or one or both of the coils. Thanks

Re: Where is ignition control module, chevy metro
the "ignition module" is inside each coil for the DIS setup
IMO, its extrermely unlike to be a module issue. More likely bad plugs, leaking EGR valve, bad O2 sensor, vacuum leak, ect Lots of things can cause a random misfire. If you have a scanner you can see the actual misfire count for each cylinder, which helps narrow down the problem a lot
