Re: How many thousand miles are you at?
My 96 Accord EX Coupe is at 241,000. I've had it from new and its been great all along until now. It had new brakes, wheel bearings, radiator and starter installed about a year ago. Now it needs new CV axles and the front exhaust pipe is leaking, Also the AC has just gone - Condenser leaking. It drives well and still has the original clutch.
Is it time to cut my losses and junking it or sink the ~$1,000 into it to keep it on the road? - How long more is that clutch likely to last? |

Re: How many thousand miles are you at?
I have an '87 Accord LX with 311,000 miles on it and still going strong! Just replaced the catalytic converter 2 months ago (2 mechanics could not figure out why I was losing power, as neither one of them are used to working on Hondas with that many miles). Once the cc was replaced, my old car was back to normal! I even took a photo of the old cc!

Re: How many thousand miles are you at?
My '91 Accord has a little over 252,000 miles on it. The engine is doing just fine. I can go, say, 4K miles between oil changes and don't need to add oil between changes. Putting some fuel injector or fuel system cleaner periodically seems to be necessary to keep it running at it's best, which is fine.
The interior is in good condition. The paint finish is good, but I do have some rust problems developing. I'm a little temped to have some body work done to keep it looking good and just drive it until the engine finally shows signs of it's demise. I believe that could easily be a few more years. However, if I do that, I may need to replace the clutch. I'll probably also have to replace the timing belt again. Don't want to gamble on that. |

Re: How many thousand miles are you at?
Have an 86 Accord with 67k, I'm original owner, always garaged.
Car is 22 years old, would have to go another 44 years to reach 200K. Wonder if parts would still be available in 2051!!!!!! |
